Facebook & Revolutionary War Americans

We have just completed a unit on the American Revolution.  To learn about these famous Americans that formed our nation, the students connected a concept of today's times and technology and used it to present their famous American.  So, what if Facebook was around during the time of the Revolution?

  1. Did your students make these themselves? If the students made them, did you provide a template for them to use? They look fantastic! What a great idea to use when working on reports.

Was this the first time you did this project? If so, what did you like best about it and what is something that did not work the way you wanted it to?

  2. Wow!
I wish I could be a student in your class! Social Studies is NOT my favorite subject (okay, it is my least favorite subject) but after learning about your project even I want to participate!

  3. Danielle, I made the template. I saw another class do the same idea but it was drawn out and photocopied. Since I was a computer teacher, I naturally began to see how it can be enhanced with a computer. This is my second year doing this assignment. My favorite parts were the statuses. They were real clever and funny too!

M, Thank you for the kind words, both of you!

  6. We were on this chapter for a little over 2 weeks. When I assign computer projects, I really do not plan an exact deadline. I tell them when the marking period is over and it has to be completed by that date. Their progress is monitored so they are not lagging behind too much. There is built-in computer time for working on projects in my lesson plans and then there is "free time" when they can choose to work on the project or work on something else. I assign about 3 projects each nine weeks.
